The secret behind Apple’s amazing designs? They have Michelangelo on board [Humour]

20120416-174130.jpg

We all love Apple’s product designs and maybe today we have found their secret! The guys over at Reddit made a funny discovery, finding that the hand on a recent patent filing from Apple (for a touch screen new iMac) was traced directly from the famous work of Michelangelo’s Sistene Chapel.

I have no idea why they would take a shortcut by using possibly one of the most famous hands ever drawn, but it made me chuckle.

That being said the guys at the Apple patent office can be excused, we already know from the image below that hands definitely arn’t their strong point.

Have intel hinted at the upcoming MacBook Pro range featuring Retina displays?

20120413-115046.jpg

One of the sure things about the upcoming MacBook Pro expected this summer is that it will feature Intel’s newest state of the art Ivy Bridge processor which it is officially unveiling on 23rd April. But will the latest MacBook range feature a retina display?

It seems like a long shot but we know that this is something Apple have been looking into doing, and it is a sure thing to happen at some point. With the budget for their MacBook range being so much higher than something like an iPad or iPhone there is definitely potential for Apple to surprise us with this cutting edge technology, just like with … Read the rest

Apple ramping down production of existing MacBook Pros in preparation for an all new 2012 model

20120410-153810.jpg

Many authorised sellers of Apple computers are showing as out of stock of 15 inch MacBook Pros this week suggesting Apple is ramping down production in preparation for the all new slimmer 2012 MacBook Pro we talked about last week.

It’s thought that the new design will be largely designed around the current MacBook Air, meaning a larger 15 inch air will not be needed as the MacBook Pro will be super thin anyway. Retailers such as BestBuy have stopped taking orders for the 2.4Ghz 15 inch Pro. Many other retailers are also showing stock outs for this mid range model.

The New MacBook Pro Probably won’t Have An Optical drive. Here’s 3 Great Reasons Why.

20120405-094132.jpg

Going on the increased popularity of the App Store and the want for increasingly smaller devices it’s almost a certainty that your next MacBook Pro will not have an optical CD drive. This will be a hard thing to accept from some of you close minded Microsoft boys, but you don’t need one anymore either!

The need for a CD installation of a program for example simply isn’t there, it’s messy, easy to lose/damage and extremely unstandardised. For each different program you want to install there’s an impossible amount of combinations of passkeys, installations, downloads etc that makes the whole process of downloading a new program a lot more stressful. … Read the rest

Many have wanted the super thin designed MacBook air to be available in a 15 inch model, well in only a few months this may just happen. Not in the release of a bigger MacBook air, but the new MacBook range that is supposed to be faster but on the design a lot thinner and more ‘Air-like’.

The news comes from Digitimes who we quoted last week when they announced that the 2012 MacBook Pro was ready to go into production this month. The report says essentially that a larger Air will not be needed as the new Pro range is going to be significantly thinner and sleek itself.
