Apple officially announce over 3 million new iPads were sold over the first weekend

After Tim Cook announced earlier a record breaking weekend for the iPad but with a lack of numbers, Apple have now now officially announced that 3 million iPads were sold in total in the first weekend of the new iPad release.
This is a huge number, and by far overshadows the initial sales figures of both previous iPads.


The new iPad is a blockbuster with three million sold―the strongest iPad launch yet,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “Customers are loving the incredible new features of iPad, including the stunning Retina display, and we can’t wait to get it

The New iPad produced record breaking sales figures in its first weekend

As you will be aware, just as expected the new iPad was in huge demand and sold out Pre orders within 24 hours. The trend followed on the release day last Friday when queues were forming outside practically every apple store. The devices flew off of the shelves and are now pretty much unattainable straight from Apple.

In the conference call this morning with Tim Cook that was based on their plans for Apple’s huge cash reserves, the CEO was also asked about initial first week sales of the New iPad.
