Building on earlier iPhone 5S release date rumours, today from sources in Asia we have heard that Foxconn have now ramped up production for Apples upcoming iPhone 5S.

The rumour comes from our old friend the Japanese blog Macotakara, who report that Apples huge primary manufacturers ‘Foxconn’ have just begun production for apples 7th generation iPhone. Sources close to Apple manufacturer AU Optronics have revealed today that the company are currently in full production of Retina displays for the next iPad mini. As you will be well aware by now a retina display is by far the most anticipated feature to come from the second generation iPad mini.

As thousands of happy customers have just finished the first weekend with their new iPad Mini, research firm IHS did a little look into the parts that go into the new device, and just how much it costs Apple to make.

After looking at the parts and manufacturers it was determined that the base model costs Apple a total of $188 to produce, on top of this the 32gb model costs $31 more, and the 64gb model $62.

A bit if a stir was caused earlier in the week after Amazon took on a Samsung-esque attack at the new iPad mini, comparing it to its latest Kindle Fire HD. In the comparison Amazon stated that it boasts ‘duel stereo speakers’, implying that the iPad mini uses lower quality Mono speakers.

With us ever nearing the anticipated 2012 iPad mini release date, Wall Street Journal themselves cited inside sources last week telling them production of the new 7.85 inch tablet was well underway.

A new Apple device can’t be launched without some sort of issue being found and jumped on by the media. More often then not these turn out to not be an issue at all such as the new iPad’s overheating issue. As we near the iPad mini’s predicted October release date we have had a good collection of leaked images from thought to be parts of the device. Graphic artist Martin Hajek has taken all of these into account to produce a beautiful collection of digital renderings of what the smaller 7.85 inch iPad will most likely look like.

Leading up to the expected October 17th iPad mini release date we have certainly been getting our share of leaked images from parts of the device.

However all of the leaked pictures so far such as these comparison photos have shown the standard silver aluminium finish we have all familiarised ourselves with from the original iPad. AT&T announced earlier today that the iPhone 5 was the fastest selling iPhone ever, and now Apple have confirmed this by revealing that the iPhone 5 racked up an astonishing 2 million Pre orders in the first 24hours of being available. This more than doubles that of the iPhone 4S last year, and is not surprising considering shipping times for the iPhone 5 slipped to two weeks just two after Pre orders were available, compared to the 4S which took a whole 24hrs.

Earlier on today the iPhone 5 was made available for Pre order for its September 21st release date. As usual for a new Apple product the orders absolutely flew in and shipping dates slipped to at least two weeks within under 2 hours.

It’s now only a matter of hours until the start of Apple’s iPhone 5 event and Wall Street Journal’s analysts have already made their predictions on the sales figures of the sixth generation iPhone. They expect the iPhone 5 to smash previous sales records held by the 4S which sold 1 million units in the first day of Pre orders alone. Hopefully by now you should know that the iPhone 5 event is on September 12th which is less than a week away. The event will take place at the Yerba Buena conference centre just as the iPhone 4S launch did, and yesterday Apple started preparing the outside of the centre with huge colourful banners.

One of the biggest changes that’s to come from the next sixth gen iPhone is its larger 4 inch screen, the first iPhone since its release in 2007 to not have a 3.5 Inch screen. The likes of Bloomberg have reported news today supporting the rumour that the iPad mini will be released in October at its own dedicated event.
Bloomberg cite their own sources in the report, saying they have 4 people (who understandably wish to not be named) very familiar to Apple’s plans, and all of them are backing up this claim. It looks as though the release of the iPhone 5 could bring with it the first 4G network in the UK. Earlier today the UK communications regulator Ofcom gave Everything Everywhere (the company owning Orange and T mobile) permission to roll out the UK’s first 4G network. Normally the world of Apple rumours relies on tip offs ornews from someone up the supply chain, well today major screen manufacturer Sharp have made it very easy for us by outwardly announcing that they will begin shipment of screens for the iPhone 5 this month.

Today via 9to5mac we’ve been given a fantastic set of pictures that supposedly finally reveal the design of the upcoming iPhone 5. As you can see from the image above the alleged iPhone matches almost perfectly to the specifications given from previous iPhone 5 rumours.

News has come in from Taiwanese source Digitimes once again, this time citing industry sources that Apple’s secondary supplier Pegatron have received the first order to start production of the upcoming sixth generation iPhone that people are calling the ‘iPhone 5′.

As you may know Apple’s primary manufacturer is Foxconn, but they still rely on Pegatron to produce a substantial amount of both iPhone 4S and new iPad units. Results of a new study have been released yesterday and show even more so just how much the iPad is dominating the tablet market. The study looked into the amount of tablet web traffic coming from different devices and the iPad had an overwhelming lead.

The study by Chitika Insights was conducted by them sifting through their ad impressions, and found that a huge 94.6% of all their tablet web traffic was coming from an iPad. For a comparison the next closest was Samsung’s Galaxy tab which only managed a total of 1.22% of tablet web traffic.

Well renowned Apple Analyst Gene Munster has said in a note to investors this week that the iPhone 5 will make its debut this October, and will definitely feature 4G LTE capabilities. Robert Schmitz of Marketplace was allowed an exclusive look by Apple into their famous Foxconn factory in China. What’s better than that? They were allowed to film it.

Schmitz is only the second ever reporter that has been allowed inside the walls at Foxconn, and the visit was spurred on by all the recent claims of bad working conditions for the 250,000 workers at the factory. We mentioned a few days ago about production of the iPhone 5, as Apple’s primary manufacturer Foxconn is currently hiring up to 20,000 new workers in preparation. Well Japanese blog Makotakara have posted a video of a local TV crew asking a woman in a manned booth outside the Foxconn plant just why Foxconn are recruiting all of these people. After Tim Cook announced earlier a record breaking weekend for the iPad but with a lack of numbers, Apple have now now officially announced that 3 million iPads were sold in total in the first weekend of the new iPad release.
This is a huge number, and by far overshadows the initial sales figures of both previous iPads.

As you will be aware, just as expected the new iPad was in huge demand and sold out Pre orders within 24 hours. The trend followed on the release day last Friday when queues were forming outside practically every apple store. Just hours after the release of the third generation iPad to the general public, the hacker MuscleNerd posed photos (Via iFans blog)of the new device that he has already jailbroken. Samsung seem to be going from one thing to the next at the moment in regards to taking down Apple. Yet another one of their anonymous employees has made it public that Apple are planning to introduce a smaller 7 inch iPad by the end of this year.
Similar to the report from a Samsung employee last week, the anonymous tipster said that Apple have just settled a deal with Samsung for components worth over $9.7 Billion, these parts include new faster Solid State Drives for the next MacBook air, and 7.85 inch displays for a new smaller iPad Apple are planning to launch in Q3 of this year.

You may remember one of the last rumours that was posted before the launch if the new iPad is that it will have 1GB of RAM. Well we are pleased to confirm that after having the device “GeekBenched”, that the third generation iPad is the first iOS device to feature 1GB of RAM.

It’s only a few days before we can all get our hands on our very own third generation iPad. As expected the hype around the latest Apple device is enough to make selected Apple fan boys queue outside their local Apple store. This time the first enthusiasts starting the wait are Ali and Zohaib who have chosen the Regent Street store outside in London to be their home from home for the next four nights.

The site iMore who correctly predicted the iPad 3 event to be held on March 7th are now confirning the the iPad 3 will “definately” have 4G LTE capabilities. An idea that matches previous credible reports such as from the Wall Street Journal last month.

There has been no indication on whether 4G speeds will be available outside of the US yet, but it seems the LTE support is becoming the second most predicted feature of the next iPad, after the retina display.

News from CNET and other sources has today told us that the ‘iPad 3′ being announced tomorrow, will in fact be called the ‘iPad HD’. CNET cite a developer who has previously provided very reliable information on Apple products, who told CNET the third generation would come with this HD name.

“A developer who’s previously provided reliable information with respect to things Apple and otherwise tells us the next iPad uses the HD moniker instead of going with ‘iPad 3.’ “

It was only 2 days ago we posted how Apple were supposedly already gearing up for production of an ‘iPad Mini’ for the third quarter of this year. Today via an anonymous tipster we have news that Samsung themselves are preparing for a smaller 7 inch iPad to be released by Apple in Q3 of 2012.

Since hearing about all these awesome new features that the third generation iPad is going to have (such as the super retina display), it’s been said that we may see a price increase upon its release last week. This idea was strengthened further by the proposed iPad 3 pricing table that was found online last week, that suggested up to an $80 price rise for this new retina screened device.
Now however it seems you can rest easy, a report published online by 9to5mac.com says they can confirm the pricing strategy will stay the same, and there will be no new storage sizes.

Amidst all of the hype surrounding the iPad 3 launch which is less than a week away, we have news today refreshing previous rumours that Apple are planning on launching a smaller ‘iPad mini’.

As you will be aware yesterday Apple officially announced that on March 7th they will be unveiling the ‘iPad 3′ to the world. With the picture and tag line Apple released, it has been speculated that the next iPad will be the first iOS device to have no home button whatsoever.

First of all the picture, from the wallpaper it has been extrapolated that the iPad in the image is in portrait mode, but yet there is no sign of a home button. Granted the picture could be take from further along the bottom of the iPad, but still it’s a little thing to add to the rumour.

Supporting all of the other previous rumours that the iPad 3 is going to be slightly thicker than its predecessor, we have a picture showing that the third generation iPad is going to be less than a millimetre thicker.

The picture via Apple.pro shows one of the iPad 3 rear shells that a few people have managed to get a hold of being measured with a pair of digital vernier callipers. The same has also been done with a current iPad 2. As you can see there is a difference, but it is extremely minimal at .81 of a millimetre.

The Verge have just announced that they have received their invite from Apple for the iPad 3 introduction. The announcement is to be held in San Francisco in the Yerba Buena Center For the Arts and is to be held at 10am PST on March 7th.

A spot from Macrumors appears to be our first hint at the price tag the imminent iPad 3 will carry. The picture source was found on the Chinese networking site Weibo, and suggests an $80 price hike for Wifi iPad models, and a $70 rise in the equivalent 3G models.

One post seems to depict a price comparison between the iPad 2 and iPad 3 possibly revealing a price increase for the iPad 3. The headings are labled left to right: “Apple iPad Model”, “iPad 2 US Price”, “iPad 3 US Price”, “iPad 3 RMB equivalent price”. The final column is calculated on the exchange rate.

We posted earlier in the week how Macrumors managed to get their hands on the proposed (but pretty much definate) screen that will come equipped on the imminent iPad 3. Unfortunately even at the hands of the experts at ifixit with their ‘Hands on’ video with the display, it was not possible to get any power to the screen to give it a test run.

We’ve practically seen every part from the iPad 3 already, from the logic board to the super high res Retina screen, we’ve pretty much managed to get a picture of everything. Today we’ve got the final piece of the puzzle, the front digitiser panel from the third generation device, showing us just what the front of this highly anticipated device is going to look like.

Today’s most recent iPhone news come once again from the Japanese blog Macotakara. The report says that Apple are rearranging their release schedules for good, and that the sixth generation iPhone (known as the iPhone 5) will be release in the Autumn/Fall time of this year.

Since the very early days of the iPad 3 rumours an A6 chip has always been right up there, however if this recent ‘spy shot’ provided by Engadget is anything to go by, the iPad 3 will not see the premiere of an all new A6 chip. The snap shown above was posted to Chinese site Weiphone and is reported to be a logic board from the upcoming third generation tablet.

From various reliable sources it is now a pretty sure thing that the iPad 3 is going to pack an amazing screen. Here’s a cool picture that shows just how good its 2048 x 1536 screen will be, comparing the relative pixel count to other iOS devices, and even full 1080p HD resolution.

Leaked images of the iPad 3 screen support these super high quality predictions and also indicate that the screens are being manufactured by Sharp. Looks as though it’s going to be an amazing feature for the third generation device, and set the bar even higher for rival tablets such as the kindle Fire.

News from both Digitimes and the Chinese Commercial Times has told us today that the next iPhone (dubbed the iPhone 5) is to be announced at the next World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) event in July.

According to this news that has been picked up from the two sources, the next iPhone 5 is going to also use the same glass to glass touch screen technology as previous iPhones. These glass panels are supposedly already secured for production by the same suppliers, TPK Holding & Wintek.

You may of seen a rumour floating around yesterday quoting Japanese blog Macotakara who claimed that from an unnamed source, Apple was planning a ‘special’ event in February, and this was likely to be the announcement for the much anticipated iPad 3. No matter how good Apple or any other company try’s to make them, Virtual on screen keyboards are never the same as the traditional keyboard, you can never type as fast or as easily as when you have physical buttons to press. If your planning on doing any sort of considerable length writing on your iPad, a Bluetooth keyboard is pretty much essential. However it appears that Apple are working on a using a combination of magnets and ‘ferrofluids’ to enable your virtual iPad keyboard to gain physical buttons on request.

We have had a report via 9to5mac today, who have been told by a reliable source that the next iPhone is in fact ready for production already. The report comes from a worker at Foxconn, who produce 90% of Apples’s iPhones, and has said that a number of prototypes of the next ‘iPhone 5′ are already floating around, and they are now gearing up to produce the final product, although which prototype structure it will follow is currently unknown.

More evidence of a Retina screened iPad to come has been found, this time in the files from Apple’s two new software products, iTunes U and iBooks 2. The pictures on behalf of 9to5mac show in two cases, picture files for the iPad, and then a higher quality version of the pictures labelled ‘iPad 2X’ images.

Yesterday in Apple’s education event they introduced the brand new iTunes U and iBooks 2. They plan to revolutionise the education industry and the way we learn with digital textbooks. Here’s the official video demonstrating their new product put up on their YouTube account today.

A recent study has found that Apples iPhone is now being favoured for corporate users in the IT industry particularly. Taking over Blackberry in what was seen as their strongest market.

The report published by the security firm Check Point surveyed a large collective of IT professionals in the UK, Canada, US, Germany and Japan. It describes an extensive reliance of SmartPhones in the industry, and furthermore noted how 89% of websites now have a support for mobile devices.

We announced a couple weeks back that Pod2G of the Chronic Dev Team had finally cracked and released the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5, leaving the only question of when will the untethered jailbreak be available for A5 chip devices (iPhone 4S and iPad 2).

Apple are known with the iPhone to set trends in terms of what the next big thing will be in smartphone technology, well it appears now that one of these next big things could be a motion controlled 3D user interface. So what does this mean? That we could be navigating around our iPhones in the future with movement based gestures and commands, and becoming a lot less reliant on the touch screen.

It has been reported that four of the major smartphone manufacturers are planning to reduce the number of handset models they have in production in future years, in light of Apples resounding success with releasing only one updated model a year.
The report from AppleInsider tells us that HTC, Research In Motion, Sony and Motorola Mobility are all reportably adopting the strategy of fewer smartphone models to be produced in the coming year. The most recent report on the upcoming iPad 3 today comes from Bloomberg, who tell us that production of the next generation tablet is underway, and have confirmed from another ‘inside source’ that it will feature an all new processor.

The most recent news to come on the iPad 3 today is that as we hoped, the first batch of next generation iPads will be shipped from the factories in March. We were given this latest rumour by the Japanese blog Macotakara, who have said that production is underway, with Foxconn doing around 85% of the manufacturing, and recently recruited Pegatron will take care of the remaining 15%. The first batch of these units are then said to be shipped sometime in march.

Today we have a legitimate report from someone who has claimed to seen and held the next generation iPad in his own hands. Today from CultOfMac we have been pointed at an interesting piece of text that has been found in the iOS 5.1 Beta software given to developers. The text is found under the normal keyboard settings and says ‘About Dictation Link Text’ and then when selected goes on to describe the Siri Dictation software found in the iPhone 4s.

A new report has once again come from DigiTimes today, citing a Taiwanese source claiming we will see not one but two new iPad models in 2012. According to the report the ‘iPad 3′ will be with us in march, and will feature minimal changes apart from an HD 1,536 x 2,048 pixel display. Then the report goes further to say that in October we will see an ‘iPad 4′ that will have all round upgraded hardware specs, and also ‘Killer Applications’ Pre installed, to tackle the upcoming threat from rival Android and Windows powered tablets.

The latest rumour regarding the iPad 3 comes from Chinas Daily Economic News, and it suggests a specific February 24th release date for the next generation iPad. The reasoning behind this date is that it would be to commemorate the death of Steve Jobs as this is his Birthday. Reportably suppliers are ramping up production to allow Apple to make this day a bit more special.

Macrumors today shows us a post in a well known Korean forum where one user has supposedly posted a picture of the ‘Retina’ screen that is to be fitted in the next iPad 3. You can see compared to the iPad 2 screen, that the iPad 3 screen (lower) is very similar apart from one more long connector coming out of the side.

You may of heard the recent uproar from Microsoft about how the iPhone 4S’ key feature ‘Siri’ is in fact nothing special at all, and they have had an equivalent for ages now.

Recently we posted the details of a Digitimes report stating that Apple are currently in the testing phase of two prototype models for the next ‘iPad 3′, these were called the J1 and the J2. Today 9to5mac have found one of these prototypes the J2 in a hidden code string in iOS 5. iLounge reports today that their most reliable source has let out some details on thhe much anticipated next iPhone and iPad in 2012. News from Korea Times this week is reporting that LG are preparing for screen production on a new Apple device. However not the iPad 3 as you may be thinking, in fact this report states new screens for two devices, the first being a 4 inch screen for the next iPhone, and second for a smaller screened iPad.

Rumours of a first quarter 2012 launch for the iPad 3 have been strengthened today with news that the company has slowed production of the second generation tablet to reduce excess inventory. They are reported to reduce in particular the rate of screen production from the likes of LG & Samsung in the aim of slowing the whole manufacturing process down by the end of 2011.

Following on from previous reports of Apple sourcing parts such as retina displays and new batteries for the iPad 3, what is now known is that Apple plan to have at least 2 million of their iPad 3 devices produced by the end of 2011.

According to JailbreakNation Apple is reportedly testing an update for iOS 5 that will include Siri support for devices other than the iPhone 4S. The device specifically mentioned in the tip off was the iPhone 4 but we assume they are also looking at other devices.

Reports today have come in from Digitimes supporting predictions that the next generation iPad will be with us in march 2012.

The info from Digitimes reports that the next generation will be both thinner, and have a longer battery life. Both great upgrades considering how thin the iPad 2 is and it’s notoriously long battery life. However what is interesting from the digitimes article is that they suggest this will be only an updated iPad 2, and a fully new iPad 3 will come in Q3 of 2012.

From various video links and pictures that we have posted on the iPhone 5 on our page we can begin to get an idea on what this is going to look like. However we have come across even more more evidence as to what the next generation phone is going to look like. What is even better is all the different sources shown (cases,blueprints,spy pictures) they all seem to support each other in the predicted design, so we can be pretty sure that the iPhone 5 is going to look something like this.

As many may know by now coming this Fall/Autumn is the newest version of Apples mobile operating system. Apple say there are over 200 new features in this operating system, but they have only announced a handful as of yet. Here’s a run through of these key new features and changes, but also some smaller changes we know about that look pretty cool as well!

Over the past few months there have been hundreds of rumours floating around of that the next iPhone will look like, new hardware such as a better camera, and new features.

There has been a video that has been spreading around the web like wildfire. This video supposedly shows the new iPhone 5 that has been ‘accidently leaked’ on one of  Apple’s foreign sites.

Of course this is highly unlikely to be real, and we are pretty much such sure that this is fake. Not only is it extremely unlikely Apple would be this sloppy, but also the fact that only one person managed to see this, and screen capture it. Leaks like this spread like wildfire and if the link really was there, anyone remotely interested in the iPhone 5 would have found out about this somehow extremely fast.

The recent case leaks for the upcoming new iPhone have meant digital designers have been able to come up with accurate renderings of what the iPhone 5 will look like.

As we can see the next iPhone is largely expected to be even thinner, and have a considerably larger screen.


From the cases, accurate predictions have also been made on the dimensions of the new iDevice :  4.33″ x 2.36″ and .27″ thickness at the top and .21″ at the bottom. As you may know, to give developers and merchandise producers a heads up, details of upcoming Apple products are released to a selected few, so that they can have cases etc. ready for when the product is launched.
