You may of known that recently Apple and Samsung have both finally gone to court to settle the ongoing disputes between them both regarding the copying of each others ideas.
In the case a number of interesting points and pieces of evidence are being raised, so we have started this ‘Apple Vs. Samsung’ series for keeping you up to date on how the court case is progressing and also the bits of evidence that are only just coming to light!

To start it off yesterday Apple provided evidence in the court room showing how Samsung have allegedly copied a number of their home screen icons and also clearly violated their trademarks. The collection of photos provided shows Apple’s trademarked symbols and them compared to a large collection of user interface apps found on various Samsung smartphones. The resemblance is obvious.

In most cases the symbols shown on the Samsung smartphones are almost identical to those of the Apple iPhone, which were in use and trademarked much before. Samsung employ a custom over skin to go over Androids basic skin to differentiate their products, and thus these claimed copied symbols are unique to only Samsung devices and not all android phones.

Apple registered a number of their icons as trademarks in 2010, an example of which can be seen below followed by the court evidence showing some of Samsung’s copying.

We were also helped out by a piece of evidence a few days ago when a leaked email was provided by Samsung showing Steve Jobs interest in an iPad Mini. It was used as evidence as the email showed vice president Eddie Cue got his idea for a smaller iPad from using a 7 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab.

You can check out all the latest evidence below and come to your own conclusion.
