We mentioned yesterday how analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released information stating that a new iPad Mini will be released some time in Q4 of this year. Well the same analyst has also provided valuable information on the much anticipated 2012 iMac model.
Kuo claims that the new model has been delayed due to screen lamination issues, believing that it was originally meant to make its debut around WWDC this summer. Resultantly he is agreeing with other previous 2012 iMac release date predictions that this new all in one will come some time towards the back end of this year.
The chances of the new iMac debuting in September are slim. But, judging by the current supply chain situation, it could be rolled out by end-September. [...]
[Supply chain] shipments for Mac desktop models will be low due to inventory adjustment in July, and will see the most dramatic MoM rise in August as shipments for the new iMac begin.
The other question on people’s minds about the next iMac is regarding whether it will come with a Retina display or not. After the release of the new MacBook this it undoubtably the most anticipated feature, however some are saying that we will have to wait till next year until we see a Retina iMac, due to the complications and costs of producing a retina screen that big.
Kuo’s report doesn’t touch on this feature but one thing he is certain of is that a new iMac model is right around the corner. Although a Retina display is no longer certain, the iMac is expected to feature the latest ivy bridge processors and also anti-reflective displays.
