Many have wanted the super thin designed MacBook air to be available in a 15 inch model, well in only a few months this may just happen. Not in the release of a bigger MacBook air, but the new MacBook range that is supposed to be faster but on the design a lot thinner and more ‘Air-like’.
The news comes from Digitimes who we quoted last week when they announced that the 2012 MacBook Pro was ready to go into production this month. The report says essentially that a larger Air will not be needed as the new Pro range is going to be significantly thinner and sleek itself.
Apple, which entered into the market of ultra-thin notebooks with its MacBook Air, is also planning to adopt ultra-thin designs for its MacBook Pro product line and is set to start mass producing a 15-inch MacBook Pro in mid-April with initial monthly shipments of 200,000 units. The company will then mass produce a 13-inch model in June with initial monthly shipments of 300,000-400,000 units.
The 15 inch model is expected to premiere slightly earlier than the 13 inch due to the smaller model being delayed by supplier issues. However, if there are issues with suppliers I still find it hard to believe Apple will release the all new models separately.
The new range is expected to feature state of the art more efficient Ivy Bridge processors, and predicted to be released as early as the summer time.
