Many authorised sellers of Apple computers are showing as out of stock of 15 inch MacBook Pros this week suggesting Apple is ramping down production in preparation for the all new slimmer 2012 MacBook Pro we talked about last week.
It’s thought that the new design will be largely designed around the current MacBook Air, meaning a larger 15 inch air will not be needed as the MacBook Pro will be super thin anyway. Retailers such as BestBuy have stopped taking orders for the 2.4Ghz 15 inch Pro. Many other retailers are also showing stock outs for this mid range model.
As mentioned before, this new 15 inch model seems to be going into production and scheduled for release earlier than the more popular 13 inch, one of the reasons proposed is that so many more parts will be needed for the 13 inch model and so this may be causing a slight hold up. By only these 15 inch models going out of stock everywhere and not the other sizes, it would support the idea that Apple are going to be having a staggered launch of the new Pro range, starting with the 15 inch.
This news also supports the previous rumours that the new range will be announced to the public this summer, so not long to wait!
It is largely expected that this new range will feature the latest state of the art ivy bridge processors and no optical drive to allow for the super thin new design.
