You may remember one of the last rumours that was posted before the launch if the new iPad is that it will have 1GB of RAM. Well we are pleased to confirm that after having the device “GeekBenched”, that the third generation iPad is the first iOS device to feature 1GB of RAM.

The test was run by the guys who posted the first unboxing video we posted earlier today. All other stats are similar to that of the iPad 2 such as the speed and processor size, however it does pack double the RAM of the iPad 2, and 4 times as much as the original iPad.
So it seems that the new ‘A5X’ chip is pretty similar to the A5 in the iPad 2 providing relatively the same speed. The overall GeekBench score for the stats of the New iPad came out pretty much the same as the iPad 2 as well so it does seem that the RAM is the only big upgrade worth noting on the internals of the new device. That and the still some what vague statement of ‘quad core graphics’.
